Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 globally, we are currently working with reduced staffing levels. We are focused on the safety of our employees, our customers and our suppliers while doing our part to minimise the impact of this pandemic. Our manufacturing facilities remain in operation and production is proceeding, whilst introducing methods to protect our staff.
We are in continuous discussions with our supply chain to anticipate any possible shortages and we have employees working from home where possible. Therefore, please bear with us should you experience any delay when contacting us. The best method of contact is via email - [email protected]. The health and safety of our customers, colleagues, and communities is our top priority and we’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your understanding at this time of uncertainty.

Trolex Engineering will be closed from 3.15pm on Friday 20th December 2019, and will not reopen until 8.00am on Thursday 2nd January 2020. If your enquiry is urgent, please use our contact form or email [email protected] as these will be checked intermittently.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish you a happy Christmas and a prosperous 2020. Following an audit on 9th and 10th September 2019 from an Auditor on behalf of our notified body, SGS Fimko Oy, we have achieved an ‘A’ rating for our QA system, which has been considered suitable for the purpose of maintaining our ATEX QA Notification.
This notification is a mandatory requirement for companies who design and manufacture explosion-protected equipment, providing confidence that the products supplied comply with their certified design. The Auditor commended our system with the following comment: “There is an emphasis on continual improvement within the company as a whole and particularly for Ex products. There is awareness of Ex product requirements throughout the company and considerable experience and knowledge.” For further information on the ATEX Quality Assurance Notification from SGS Fimko Oy, please click here.
The slip ring unit combined with these junction boxes, certified for use in ambient temperatures of -40°C to +45°C, allows a throughput voltage and current of 1kV and 200 Amps respectively. As with the TX4740/TX4741, the slip ring can be combined with fibre optic rotary joints and hydraulic swivels, as required.
In 2020, the TX4740 series of Slip Ring Units celebrates its 30th Anniversary in operation so is a field-proven product, suitable for winch and ROV applications. For further details about the TX4740/TX4741 Series, please visit the product page by clicking here. Trolex Engineering have recently expanded the TX4700 Series of products to allow the TX4705 and TX4707 to be used directly with the TX3700/3701 Exd Connectors. The slip rings are certified for use in ATEX and IECEx hazardous areas with an ambient temperature of -20°C to +55°C, allowing direct connection using plug-and-play technology. Fitted with the connectors, the TX4705 has a maximum current throughput of 100 Amps, allowing up to 20 Amps/ring. The TX4707 has a maximum current throughput of 16 Amps, fitted with 2 x 8 Amp Rings. The voltage of the units is governed by the certification of the connectors. If fitted with TX3700 Connectors the voltage is limited to 240Vac/300Vdc, or fitted with TX3701 Connectors, the voltage is limited to 1500Vac/2000Vdc. Trolex Engineering have been designing and manufacturing both explosion protected and weather protected slip rings for over 40 years. From small, low power slip ring units, through to large, high power slip rings; tried and tested in a range of arduous environments, offering both standard and bespoke products to suit any application. For further information, please contact us. Trolex Engineering have recently introduced the TX4782 Electrical Slip Ring Unit to their range, certified for use in IECEx hazardous areas, to IEC 60079-0, IEC 60079-1 and IEC 60079-7 standards, for use in FPSO applications. The electrical slip ring has a throughbore of 760mm, allowing the passage of hydraulics, pneumatics or product pipes, with a height of 2.1m. Rated up to 500Vac with a maximum throughput current of 2010 Amps, it allows the transmission of both power and signals. The slip ring has been certified for use in an ambient temperature of -20°C to +45°C and is manufactured from 316L Stainless Steel. The slip ring is fitted with junction boxes for connection from both the rotor and stator, allowing easy installation on-site, without the weight of heavy cables. In addition, all maintenance can be done via removal of covers fitted to the unit to access the internal elements. Trolex Engineering have been designing and manufacturing both explosion protected and weather protected slip rings for over 40 years. From small, low power slip rings, through to large, high power slip rings; tried and tested in a range of arduous environments. They offer both standard and bespoke products to suit any application. Trolex Engineering will be exhibiting at Ocean Business 2019 at the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton from 9-11 April 2019.
We will be on Stand V48 to answer any questions you have regarding our slip rings and their applications, and to demonstrate a range of our slip rings for varying applications.
