Ulstein Equipment BV recently selected Trolex Engineering to design, manufacture and deliver our TX4820 Electrical Slip Ring Units, to interface between the LEBUS winch and the McCartney Umbilical, on the WBS 3020 ROV Umbilical Winch for the Fall-Pipe Tower Project, on the Van Oord Subsea Rock Installation Vessel ‘Bravenes’. Ulstein Equipment BV worked with Trolex Engineering enabling us to provide highly-specialised service and support to determine the correct arrangement and structure of the slip rings, connections and transfers to ensure flawless integration between the winch and the umbilical. The TX4820 slip ring is capable of both electrical and fibre passes, both single and multi mode. This application required 25 electrical slip rings for both signal and power, rated up to 30 Amps, 3.4kV, incorporating a 3-Pass Fibre Optic Rotary Joint; 2 for Single-Mode and 1 Multi-Mode. Each slip ring has 2 junction boxes; one winch-side, one deck-side, with 3 metre flying leads and hose adaptors. Ulstein Equipment BV selected Trolex Engineering as we offer a bespoke design service meaning we were able to design the slip ring with the application in mind, and were also able to combine single and multi mode passes within a single rotary joint. Alexandra de Mare, Sales and Marketing Coordinator of Ulstein Equipment BV commented “we experienced a high level of support services, perfect communication, superior knowledge of the product compatibility and lower prices than other suppliers.” Alexandra continued, “Trolex Engineering is a perfect supplier. Considering the Slip Ring complexity - their superior knowledge and experience was a great support in helping us acquire the correct product, perfectly suitable to requirements. The timely delivery and a good functioning product was easily achieved. Working with them was a pleasure for our entire project team.” Ulstein Equipment BV develops and manufactures innovative mission and interface equipment to improve performance in vessels servicing the offshore oil and gas industry.
