The ISO9001 standard requires organisations to demonstrate that they have quality management systems in place that ensure consistency and improvement, assuring customers of high levels of performance and satisfaction. Certified organisations are committed through continuous improvement and are assessed annually to ensure progress is being maintained.
The new 2015 standard, introduced in September 2016, has evolved to meet the needs of a more technology driven world with increasingly complex supply chains. Focusing more on managing processes and less on documentation, the new accreditation includes a number of important changes including:

Trolex Engineering have recently introduced the TX4849 Slip Ring to their range.
The Weather Protected Slip Ring is a compact 316L stainless steel unit which has a cover diameter of only 72mm. The unit can house up to 16 rings, rated 12 Amps, 1000V per ring. In addition to electrical passes, the unit can also be combined with a fibre optic rotary joint, both single and multimode options.
Suitable for a variety of applications including ROV’s, winches and seismic surveying, the unit has been design tested to meet IP66 ratings. The TX4849 has precious metal plated rings for low loss signal and is available with up to an M25 tapped entry, or connectors as a cost option.
Trolex Engineering have been designing and manufacturing both explosion protected and weather protected slip rings for over 40 years. From small, low power slip rings such as the TX4849, to large, high power 11kV, 3,500 Amps, the slip rings have been tried and tested in numerous environments.
Time served Centre Lathe Turner required with good experience in Milling & Drilling on conventional machines and also CNC work programme and operate XYZ machinery (in-house training given for CNC).
Applicants shall be skilled City & Guilds in engineering (or NVQ) with broad experience, able to work with minimum supervision from a drawing using a wide range of basic materials.
Clean, warm well-lit machine shop and good working environment with conventional and challenging work. Company manufactures own products, one offs and small batch work.
Rate of pay would be commensurate with experience (details on application), 37½ hours basic plus benefits, pension contribution, 32 paid holidays (accrued from start) and occasional overtime. Safety wear provided.
You will have the responsibility of:
- Accurate measurement using precision measuring equipment
- Continually making attempts to improve productivity and work methods
- Working to COSHH regulations and being aware of risk assessments and work procedures
- Ensuring relevant documentation is complete

Trolex Engineering have introduced a new winch slip ring to the TX4740 Series. The TX4741 Slip Ring Unit is certified both ATEX and IECEx and has a cover diameter of 142mm.
The unit is of 316L stainless steel construction and can be combined with both single and multi mode fibre optic rotary joints. The maximum voltage is 4.5kV, with a maximum current throughput of 400 Amps, excluding earths, screens and neutrals. Each ring has a maximum throughput of 40 Amps, but rings can be paralleled if a higher current transfer is required.
The TX4740 Series is proven in the field, with the first unit being supplied back in 1991. Alternatively, if you require this diameter slip ring but for a safe area application, check out the TX4820 Slip Ring.
Trolex Engineering will be exhibiting at Ocean Business 2017 which takes place at the NOC in Southampton from 4-6 April 2017.
On Stand V40, we will be displaying a range of our standard products, including 2 new product releases. Our technical staff will be available to answer any questions you may have and provide information on what products suit your application.
Trolex Engineering have recently launched a Manually-Operated Cable Reel as part of their TX4920 Cable Reel Series.
The Cable Reel, which can be fitted with either a Weather Protected TX4845, or an Explosion Protected TX4705 Slip Ring, is suitable for temperature limits of -20°C to +45°C. With a ring current of 20 Amps and maximum voltage of 600V, the cable reel is suitable for a maximum speed of 100rpm with an IP65 rated enclosure.
The length of the cable/hose can be adjusted to suit the specification and the external material can be made in a choice of aluminium, 316 stainless steel or carbon steel with epoxy paint system.
Other options include a fluid/gas swivel, cable guide, bump stop, protective covers, special paint systems or colours and a higher current.
Further information can be found on the product page.
Ulstein Equipment BV recently selected Trolex Engineering to design, manufacture and deliver our TX4820 Electrical Slip Ring Units, to interface between the LEBUS winch and the McCartney Umbilical, on the WBS 3020 ROV Umbilical Winch for the Fall-Pipe Tower Project, on the Van Oord Subsea Rock Installation Vessel ‘Bravenes’.
Ulstein Equipment BV worked with Trolex Engineering enabling us to provide highly-specialised service and support to determine the correct arrangement and structure of the slip rings, connections and transfers to ensure flawless integration between the winch and the umbilical.
The TX4820 slip ring is capable of both electrical and fibre passes, both single and multi mode. This application required 25 electrical slip rings for both signal and power, rated up to 30 Amps, 3.4kV, incorporating a 3-Pass Fibre Optic Rotary Joint; 2 for Single-Mode and 1 Multi-Mode. Each slip ring has 2 junction boxes; one winch-side, one deck-side, with 3 metre flying leads and hose adaptors.
Ulstein Equipment BV selected Trolex Engineering as we offer a bespoke design service meaning we were able to design the slip ring with the application in mind, and were also able to combine single and multi mode passes within a single rotary joint. Alexandra de Mare, Sales and Marketing Coordinator of Ulstein Equipment BV commented “we experienced a high level of support services, perfect communication, superior knowledge of the product compatibility and lower prices than other suppliers.”
Alexandra continued, “Trolex Engineering is a perfect supplier. Considering the Slip Ring complexity - their superior knowledge and experience was a great support in helping us acquire the correct product, perfectly suitable to requirements. The timely delivery and a good functioning product was easily achieved. Working with them was a pleasure for our entire project team.”
